This site looks at a language spoken in many parts of East Timor, Tetun. The language is also known as Tetum. Our main consultant preferred to write the name of the language as Tetun and therefore the name Tetun is used here.

Varieties of Tetun are used by more than 300,000 people in parts of East Timor and West Timor. This website has been designed to enable you to learn something about one variety of the language, the creolized variety of Tetun called Dili Tetun.
