Installation
To begin installing SSH Secure Shell Client on your Windows machine,
open the directory on your hard drive where you saved the downloaded
file.
Double-click on the SSH installer icon, which should look like this:
The installer will show you a
series of screens. Let's go through them:
Screen One:
-
-
The initial screen just tells you what we are about to do: just click
on "Next":

Screen Two:
-
-
The second screen contains the license agreement. If you want to use
the software legally, you must agree to this, so click "Yes."
Screen Three:
-
This screen allows you to install the package to the directory of your
choice. The default location is:
C:\Program Files\SSH Communications Security\SSH Secure Shell
This is a good choice. Unless you're comfortable installing software,
and would prefer to install the package to another directory, click
"Next.".
Screen Four:
-
Here you can name the program folder for the SSH software. This is the
name that you'll see when you click on the Start Menu (lower left
corner of your Windows desktop) and select "Programs."
Our advice? Don't worry about renaming anything. Just click
"Next.".
Screen Five:
-
The fifth screen allows you to choose which parts of the software
package to install. The default is to install everything, and we
suggest that you choose this option. Click "Next" to do so.
Screen Six:
-
The Install Wizard will now install the software onto your computer
automatically. When the installation is complete, you'll see the final
screen, where your only option is to click "Finish."
And you're done!
-
If you look in the Start Menu under "Programs," you'll find a
folder named "SSH Secure Shell." You can start Secure Shell
Client and Secure File Transfer Client from the links in that folder.
You'll also find that two icons have been added to your desktop. These
can be used to start your SSH programs. The icons look like this:
To start a remote session, double-click on the SSH Secure Shell Client
icon. A file transfer window can be opened from within the Secure Shell
Client program.
You're now ready to configure the SSH Secure Shell Client to connect to
the Unix-based computing facilities at AICT.
To return to the main SSH information page, hit the "back"
button on your browser.
