The Distinguished Alumni Award is the Alumni Association's most prestigious Recognition Award. These awards are conferred each year to recognize living University of Alberta graduates whose truly outstanding achievements have earned them national or international prominence. Alumni who are chosen to receive Distinguished Alumni Awards are also inducted to the Alumni Wall of Recognition.
Unveiled on 22 March 1994, the Alumni Wall of Recognition is a joint project of the University of Alberta Alumni Association and the Students' Union. It was created as part of the 1993 renovations to the Students' Union Building. The Wall recognizes the important contributions that University of Alberta alumni have made to their professions and to society. In so doing, it serves as an inspiration to the University of Alberta students who will be the alumni of the future.
