Bhatia, Avadh Behari

Born in India, Dr. Bhatia received advanced degrees from the 
University of Allahabad and Liverpool.  He was a researcher 
under Max Born at the University of Edinburgh.  He came to 
Canada on a National Research Council fellowship, and in 
1954 joined the Department of Physics at the University.  
From 1964 to 1969 he was director of the Theoretical Physics 
Institute.  He was a pioneer in electronic transport theory 
and the study of diffraction of light by ultrasonic waves.

The papers include tributes to Dr. Bhatia and papers 
published after his death in 1984.
