Kostiuk, Hryhory
Literary scholar and publicist
1902-

Hryhory Kostiuk was born and educated in the Ukraine. From 1927 to
1931 his literary reviews and essays appeared in numerous Soviet
journals and he also taught Ukrainian literary history at Kharkiv
University. Arrested in Kiev during the Stalinist terror for his overt
nationalism, he spent five years in Soviet  prison camps and fled to
Germany in 1944. Active in founding various Ukrainian literary
organizations, he has lived in the United States since 1952.

His correspondence files were acquired by the Canadian Institute of
Ukranian Studies.
