Morrison, Ibrahim Folinsbee

I.F. Morrison came to the University in 1912 as a lecturer in civil  
engineering.  On leave from 1916 to 1918, he rejoined the University 
in 1919 and was named professor of Applied Mechanics in 1921.  A 
member of the University Senate, 1923-1925 and 1937-1939, he 
retired as head of the Department of Civil Engineering in 1954.  Dr. 
Morrison was the first in Canada to teach courses in soil mechanics; 
in addition to his academic duties he acted as a civil engineering 
consultant for the City of Edmonton and throughout Canada.  He 
was project supervisor for much of the new  construction on the 
campus after 1945.
