Royce, Joseph Russell

Joseph Royce joined the University in 1960 as professor and 
first head of the Department of Psychology.  In 1967 he 
founded the Centre for Advanced Study in Theoretical 
Psychology, an interdisciplinary research institute which 
was the first of its kind in the world.  He retired from the 
Centre in 1978 and from the University as Professor Emeritus 
in 1986.  Dr. Royce published widely in numerous fields, 
including behavioural genetics, individuality and 
personality, and philosophical psychology.
