Over several weeks in February 2007 and April 2008, Mulgrave Road Theatre, Guysborough Youth Health and Services Centre, AWTY CURA and playwright Jane Heather have been working on the rural adaptation of AWTY?. The adaptation process involved participatory research with teens from rural communities as well as script workshopping with actors. Issues were raised pertaining to privacy in rural areas, the dynamic between diverse cultural populations in the area, and the possibility of enlisting youth advisors in an attempt to reflect the realities of living in this particular area.
In April and May of 2008, the program toured to all Grade 9 students in the Straight Regional School Board, and AWTY CURA researchers conducted an assessment of the NS program.
