Ethics in Health Care Organizations Fall 2011, Thursdays

This interdisciplinary
seminar examines ethical decision-making processes and the unique values that
arise in the management of health care teams and facilities. Key themes include
moral leadership and how to promote a genuinely ethical climate beyond a mere
statement of mission and values. Topics may include confidentiality and
quality assurance, fairness and risk as human resource issues, priority setting
and allocation, the structure and function of ethics committees, and ethics
requirements for institutional accreditation.
No prerequisites or ethics
background required.

An interdisciplinary course
exploring selected topics in bioethics. Includes examination of ethical theories
and principles within the context of clinical practice (nursing, medicine,
rehabilitation medicine, dentistry, pharmacy) and learning experiences to
improve moral reasoning and ethical decision making.
