PHS 643: Ethics in Health Care Organizations

This interdisciplinary seminar examines ethical decision-making processes and the unique values that arise in the management of health care teams and facilities. Key themes include moral leadership and how to promote a genuinely ethical climate beyond a mere statement of mission and values. Topics may include confidentiality and quality assurance, fairness and risk as human resource issues, priority setting and allocation, the structure and function of ethics committees, and ethics requirements for institutional accreditation.

No prerequisites or ethics background required.                                       

 

INT D 570: Healthcare Ethics

Winter 2012, Thursdays 5:00 - 8:00 pm                     Professor: Wendy Austin, RN, PhD

An interdisciplinary course exploring selected topics in bioethics. Includes examination of ethical theories and principles within the context of clinical practice (nursing, medicine, rehabilitation medicine, dentistry, pharmacy) and learning experiences to improve moral reasoning and ethical decision making.
