Dear Chemical Grads,
The University of Alberta is the best university in Canada for its department of Chemical Engineering and we are proud to be part of it.The Chemical Engineering Students' Society (ChESS) is a student club for all undergraduate chemical engineers at the U of A. Traditional and Co-op students in Chemical Engineering (Computer Process Control, Oil Sands and Biomedical streams) are members of ChESS. At ChESS, we believe in working as a team with our fellow ChemEs to make the most out of our undergraduate university experience, to stay united through thick and thin, and get the best results as well. The core chemical engineering subject areas include: material and energy balences, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, separation processes, chemical reactor analysis and computer process control. These areas require a solid foundation of mathematics, physics, and chemistry. In these courses you will learn about the principles required for the design and analysis of processes. The various ChE streams programs offered at the UofA are: Chemical Engineering: Biomedical Option Chemical Engineering: Computer Process Control Option Chemical Engineering: Oil Sands Stream
"If you do not wash or use deoderant, shave or wear make-up, eat, feed your dog, work on a farm, wear shoes, drive a car, play CDs, go on holidays or stay at home, sleep on a mattress or take pills, brush your teeth or wear false ones, go to the movies, watch television, listen to the radio, buy books or read newspapers, then Chemical Engineering does not affect your life." - Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK Geer Week 2011 Want to know when Geer Week events are taking place? Events start on January 11 with the Opening Ceremony and Tug of War at 12:00. Come show off your talents as an athlete, dancer, film maker, innovative designer, musician, or speaker. Chem E needs you! Study Help Sessions for First Year Engineering Students The Academic Support Centre is offering study sessions to help first year engineering students succeed. For more information, check out their poster or website. Questions/Suggestions Please contact the webmaster with any questions, comments or concerns about the website at chemical@ess.ualberta.ca To contact other members of ChESS visit contact us page.
