Workshop: "Parallel Computing and Visualization"
(April 29 -
May 3) Organized
by the Research Support Group, Computing and Network Services,
University of Alberta. Additional support from the department of
Physics. Sponsored by MACI and C3.ca. Also, this year we had three
people from our team teaching workshop sessions. Visualization
Techniques and Packages - Jon Johansson. OpenMP from /scratch - Edmund
Sumbar. Introduction to MPI and PVM - Masao Fujinaga.

Grid
Computing in Canada
May 1, 2002.
Organized by Netera Alliance, CNS with additional support from C3.ca.
Ron Senda was
one of the moderators and with the people from Netera participated in
organizing the event.

Grid Canada.
Grid Canada was
co-located during the Global Grid Forum in Toronto (17-20 February
2002). Ron Senda and Norris Weimer participated to help set up a Canada
wide testbed.

SGI Technical
Products Refresh:
Sponsored by SGI
and organized by the research support group. Scott Gaerisch, the SGI
rep for the U of A, and his associates visited the University of
Alberta on Monday and Tuesday, 22 and 23 October, 2001. Scott and team
discussed the new CPU road map, storage, and some of the trends in
visualization technologies.

Symposium on high-performance Computing Systems (HPCS) held at the
Fantasyland Hotel in West Edmonton Mall from May 20-22 1998. The

Computing Science, CNS, and University departmental research teams.
