Academics

Academics is an important part of life for all University of Alberta students especially for Greek organizations. Greek life was founded on the principles of academic and social success. The Greek community's goal is to make its members better students and better leaders.

National Panhellenic Council (NPC) requires that each woman going through the recruitment process have at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average. Each chapter house has it’s a scholarship chairperson, who not only enforces individual house standards but also promotes academic success for each member. Last year alone women NPC members were eligible for over $.9 million in scholarships.

All Men's chapters at University of Alberta are members of National Interfraternity Council (NIC) follow the NIC membership guidelines with a minimum entrance GPA of 2.5. Fraternity members are required to maintain their GPA through all years at University. NIC member chapters are required to report their GPA results annually to their international chapter HQ. Last year, Alberta fraternity members were eligible for NIC and local scholarships valued at over $1.1 Millon.
