I started my Greek Life experience at the University of Alberta as an undergraduate student and a sorority member. When I joined I knew that it was going to be a fun experience, but I never realized how much it would shape me as a person. I made friends that are still my closest friends today and held leadership positions in my chapter that provided me with some incredible opportunities. Now as an alumna, I am still benefitting from my sorority membership. I’ve served as a local chapter advisor, a housing corporation member, and I currently serve as an international officer for my sorority. My roles have taken me to over 15 states, to numerous conferences and campuses, and I’ve even stayed in some pretty amazing sorority houses. I’ve met some remarkable people and have made incredible friendships that will last me a lifetime.
I am thrilled to be giving back to my Greek community as the Fraternity and Sorority Advisor. In this role, I provide oversight, advising support and organizational and leadership development opportunities for all registered students affiliated with fraternities and sororities. I directly advise the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and Order of Omega, and their respective executive councils. My main responsibilities are to:
• Serve as an advocate for Greek Life experiences and organizations.
• Provide support and advising for all fraternities and sororities, including programming assistance, leadership development, goal setting, and risk management.
• Support and oversee the recruitment process and retention of affiliated fraternities and sororities.
• Assist with the implementation of leadership education activities to enhance the leadership development and engagement of student members of fraternities and sororities.
• Monitor fraternity and sorority adherence to University policy and procedure, including the Code of Student Behaviour.
• Maintain records related to fraternity and sorority membership, academics, event planning/approval and risk management.
• Serve as University's representative in communicating with international fraternity and sorority representatives, alumni, and local chapter advisors.
I am very enthusiastic and supportive of Greek Life and am very excited to have the opportunity to support the fraternities and sororities at the University of Alberta!
