Leadership

(n) process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task

Leadership opportunities are provided by fraternity and sorority membership. During your student time at the University of Alberta, active participation in your Chapter and as part of the fraternity/sorority community (also known as the Greek Community) is required.

A young women or man in the Fraternity/Sorority system at the University of Alberta starts out with membership education to learn about the Unversity, the Greek Community at UofA and his/her chapter. Greek Life provides a vareity of leadership oppotunities from planning and coordinating Philanthrophic events, team organization and participation in Intermural activites throught to University/Greek Community and Chapter leadership roles.

Opporunities to attend local, regional and international fraternity leadership conferences are available.

Order of Omega

The International Order of Omega is a Leadership Honor Society only for individuals who are members of a fraternal organization. Membership in the Iota Omicron chapter at University of Alberta is reserved for the top 3% of University of Alberta Greek leaders.  The U of A chapter was established in 1989.  In 2008, the member GPA of Order of Omega at Alberta was 3.35 with membership at 35.

The Order of Omega hosts several events throughout the school year, including speakers on leadership and development, the Annual Greek Formal and Awards Night.
