Youth and Hope: Visible through Art

Hope is an abstract concept that is experienced and viewed differently by each of us. It is symbolized in unique ways depending on our experiences and views of the world around us. It may be difficult, especially for children and youth, to express themselves in words, so we often use images to invoke that sense of hope.

The last week of January of each year is set aside and declared Hope Week in Alberta. This year we are asking youth to share their views of hope through their artwork. Watch for these hope-filled images to appear in venues in your area: in schools, continuing care centres, hospitals or unexpected places!

If you are a student, a teacher, or a leader of a youth group, call the Hope Foundation at 492-1222 and ask how you can participate. The submission deadline is November 30th and teacher packages are available now.
