Gifts in Kind

Often people are interested in making donations of goods or services rather than money to support the work of a charitable organization. In Canada, it is possible to receive an official tax receipt for such donations, provided the necessary conditions described by Revenue Canada are met.

In general, a receipt for such a gift must not exceed the normal fair market value of the product, whether the item is new or used. Official receipts cannot be issued for services provided, but the donor of a service is free to donate the payment for such work back to the foundation.
