The Orlando Project is writing the first full scholarly history of womens writing
in the British Isles. We are providing an overarching account of womens writing
across the centuries that addresses issues raised by recent feminist thinkers and scholars
of womens writing. To facilitate the breadth of this work, we are using
computers throughout the project to store and manipulate basic research material in the
form of biographical accounts of most British women writers, as well as a detailed
chronology. We are thus developing new computing tools which will allow very
flexible access to our multimedia material.
