Our Mission
People
Against Impaired Driving was formed in Edmonton in 1982.
It's founders were Gladys Armstrong, who lost her 21-year-old daughter and Pat Baril, who lost both her parents.
The mission of People Against Impaired Driving is to eliminate impaired-driving related tragedies and to support the victims of this violent crime.
As a non-profit organization, PAID/REID survives and thrives because of the invaluable contribution and commitment of volunteers.
We run two major awareness campaigns each year - one in December and one in May - that require extensive planning and a coordinated effort to succeed. All this is accomplished through the hard work of volunteers.
Form school talks to Checkstops; from press conferences to craft fairs, our volunteers undertake a wide range of tasks and have been the lifeblood of this organization since its inception in 1982.
PAID/REID is run entirely by a volunteer board of eight members with about 300 members throughout Alberta.
Memberships to PAID/REID are $10 for an individual and $15 for a family.
Members are kept informed of the organization's work through a quarterly newsletter.
