  • Student Connections

Student Connections (SC) is an Industry Canada initiative funded through the federal government's Youth Employment Strategy. Established in 1996, SC delivers on-site customized Internet and computer training and e-business services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada. SC also offers successful Internet and computer training programs for Canadian seniors. To deliver these training and consultation services, SC hires qualified post-secondary students as Student Business Advisors and trainers. SC has delivered technology training to 200,000 Canadian businesses and seniors, and employed more than 6,400 students. Operating out of 14 colleges and universities across Canada, SC works with the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) to access resources that reside within Canadian business, academic institutions and youth.

    The Technology Training Centre

The TTC is partnered up with the Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, the U of A Faculty of Extension, and the Progress Software Corporation, as well as the Student Connections Program.

In hosting the Student Connections program, the TTC employs students from a variety of disciplines and faculties and gives practical, real-world, professional experience helping small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) develop e-business solutions. The TTC prepares students for future careers in giving them the professional skills they need to succeed in their field.

    Rural Training

The underlying idea for our “Rural Initiatives” is to reach out to the rural community with the invitation of technology training. We understand many farmers could begin to reap the rewards equally as other small and medium sized businesses by the possibility of selling their cattle/grain/poultry/produce/crafts to whomever and wherever the Internet reaches.
