Ally is on the pill and Steve has always used condoms. They have two more years of university of go, and both are hopeful that they'll be able to go on to grad school one day.

Ally notices that her period is late. She waits two weeks, hoping it will start, and then goes for a pregnancy test. The test comes back positive - she's pregnant.
