Welcome to LING420

My office hours this semester are Tuesdays 10-11am and Wednesdays 12:45-12:45pm in Assiniboia Hall 4-22.
If you can't make those times, email me to make an appointment. At any time outside office hours I am definitely not guaranteed to be in my office, and my office phone has no voicemail, so you should always try email first.

Class Announcements

Nov 15
Now posted: Homework Three, which is due next Monday, except you can hand it in on Tuesday by 4pm if you want -- see assignment itself for details!
And here it is also as a MSWord document.

Oct 11
Now posted: Homework Two, a little early, and due next Friday, i.e. Oct 22. I am also posting it as a MSWord document, if that's what you use, because you can then use the format for tableaus that I have given in the document itself.

Sept 27
Now posted: Homework One, due in a week (Monday Oct 4) in class. Enjoy.

Sept 27
Notes are now posted for this, on the actual notes page. Normally I won't post this -- you should just go find them on Sunday.

Presentations schedule is also now posted. Make sure I have your part right.

Sept 21
... And I'm back. Week two's slides on infant speech perception, presented very kindly by Johanne Paradis, which you probably already have from her, are nevertheless reposted here.
The slides that she continued with on Week three Monday, and which we will finish up on Wednesday, are here, and the rest of Week three's slides for Wednesday and Friday are here.

* Starting next week, I will start putting the notes on the proper Notes page, but today I'm tired. Next time you get your retinas reattached, you can be tired too.

* A reminder also that The first assignment will be posted Sept 27 and due Oct 4, unlike claims on the syllabus.

* Since I am back faster than anticipated, we can perhaps choose presentations earlier than planned, which you might appreciate, so we will discuss this in class tomorrow (Wednesday.).

Sept 8
As announced today, a couple tricky things about the first few weeks of class:

*Friday's class (Sept 10) is cancelled

*The next two weeks of class will be taught by Johanne Paradis, who will also be posting the lecture notes on Dr. Paradis's website, She will try to get next week's notes posted before Monday, but we are both working under somewhat exceptional circumstances so she requests a little patience.

*The first assignment will be posted Sept 27 and due Oct 4, unlike claims on the schedule, and there will be no presentations until after Oct 4, when you will all get to choose them. Sorry about all this.

See you in class...
