In 1974 Tanya Prochazka moved to Vienna. She became a member of various chamber music ensembles including Ensemble I, the Clemencic Consort and Capella Academica, and performed throughout Europe and the Middle East. It was with Ensemble I that she performed most extensively, and recorded for radio in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, France and Holland. She was a prize winner at the Gaspar Cassado International Cello Competition in Florence, Italy in 1975. In 1976 Tanya undertook further studies with Janos Starker in Bloomington, Indiana, and later that year she was appointed "Artist in Residence", as cellist of Ensemble I, at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne Australia, for two years. This was a period of numerous concerts and recordings as a chamber musician and soloist, in Europe as well as Australia.
In 1978 Tanya was a semifinalist at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, again played recitals in Australia, and the same year collaborated with Salvatore Accardo and Bruno Giuranna in Asolo, Italy. The same year she settled in London, where her musical activities were extremely varied. They included chamber music with Lontano, the Sirius Ensemble, the Florestan piano trio, cello and piano recitals, and work as principal cello in various chamber orchestras including the Scottish Baroque Ensemble, the London Mozart Players and the English Sinfonia. She also broadcast as recitalist, chamber musician and soloist with orchestra for the BBC and played in the Philharmonia Orchestra and for the Royal Shakespeare Company. She taught at the Royal Academy of Music and at the Guildhall School of Music. In August 1986 she was a professor at the 3rd Anglo-French Music Course in Martel, France.
Since her arrival in Edmonton, Canada, in 1986, Tanya has performed in Canada, USA, Germany,
UK, Russia and Australia. She performs frequently for the CBC. Tanya has performed concertos with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and the Alberta Baroque Ensemble. She collaborates in sonata repertoire with pianists Stephane Lemelin, Joseph Fridman, Janet Scott-Hoyt and Angela Cheng. She teaches at the University of Alberta and Alberta College. Tanya freelances in chamber and symphony orchestras in Edmonton and Banff. She plays regularly with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and in 1999 was again featured as a soloist, performing two concerti and a gamba solo with this orchestra.
In 1997 Tanya was appointed Artist-in-Residence at the University of Alberta,
in 1998 she was appointed Assistant Professor and in 2001 she was appointed
