Liquid Rationalism - Pastafarian Edition

Liquid Rationalism is a chance for freethinkers to meet and discuss any topics relevant to the freethought movement. Liquid Rationalisms will be held every other week until finals and then resume in the New Year.

Since our first Liquid Rationalism of the school year coincides with International Talk Like a Pirate Day, we will be having a Flying Spaghetti Monster themed event. Dress like a pirate and come worship the holy day of His Noodleness.

This all takes place on Friday, September 19th at 3:00 PM in Dewey's (inside the old Powerplant). The fun winds down around 7:00 PM. See you there!

Ian said...: Unfortunately pasta left the menu when the Powerplant became Dewey's, but there may be drink specials.

Mandate

We are a new student group at the University of Alberta dedicated to raising awareness of and promoting discussion about atheism, agnosticism, humanism, and other brands of freethought. Our main goals are to:

promote an open, rational, and scientific examination of the universe and our place in it;

promote that ethics and morality can be meaningful based on rational and humanistic ideals and values;

promote sceptical inquiry and critical thinking;

organize activities, such as forum discussions, guest lectures, and debates that educate students and the surrounding community;

foster acceptance of freethinkers;

advocate for the separation between church and state
