Russell's Teapot

Russell's Teapot, or the Celestial Teapot is an analogy regarding the burden of proof for god's existence proposed by Bertrand Russell. The basic tenet is that one could postulate that there was a teapot orbiting the sun between the Earth and Mars and no one would be able to disprove that assertion. Since it cannot be disproved it must be true.People will assume this is nonsense, but if the existence of the teapot were affirmed in ancient texts, taught as sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, any hesitation to accept it would be taken as a sign of insanity.
