Laboratory Facilities

EIFL is equiped with tanks, computers, and state-of-the-art electronics to examine fluid flows and make quantitative measurements. Experiments are designed so that measurements may readily be compared to numerical simulations.

Some of the laboratory equipment is listed below:

• DigImage: a variety of routines used to digitize and enhance CCD images of experiments. Among its uses, DigImage is versatile in particle tracking (to measure velocity fields), discerning dye concentration (to measure density and mixing). and contour analyses (to measure flow structures).
• LabView: ``Virtual Instrumentation'' software to operate remote peripherals and collect and analyze data.
