Schedule, Maps and Info

Edmonton weather is dodgy in October. Dress for all seasons. Average highs are 15C, average lows are around -3C.

It is about a 30 minute journey from the Edmonton Airport to the University. Cab fares are about $50. You can also take the Sky Shuttle which leaves for the university every 20-45 minutes and goes straight to Campus Towers and Lister Hall. Its cost is $15 one way/$25 return.

The location of the workshop (Tory 3-36), accommodation (Lister Hall and Campus Towers) and the banquet venue (the Faculty Club) are indicated on the Campus Map

The Thursday night Icebreaker (7pm-10pm), in which drinks and hors d'oeuvres will be served, will take place at #901 10504 99 Ave. Buzz 1121 for entry. In good weather it is a pleasant 30 minute walk from campus across the High Level Bridge and through the Legislature grounds (if you walk on the east side of the bridge from 109 St), or it is a $7 cab fare. The building, called "The Omega", can be spotted from the Starbucks on the ground level.

The tentative schedule of talks and abstracts can be viewed.

The campus has a variety of restaurants and cafes, mostly concentrated at Hub Mall and the Student Union Building (SUB), shown on the Campus Map. There are a variety of good restaurants and pubs a short distance from campus primarily on Whyte Avenue (82 Ave) between 104 and 109 St. Recommendations include ...

The 3 day workshop will be run from Friday October 5 to Sunday October 7, 2007 on the campus of the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

The workshop will build upon the successful meeting on Complex Geophysical Gravity Currents held at the University of British Columbia in March 2007.

It will include talks on the dynamics of flows, with and without particles, whose evolution is affected by ambient stratification. As well as fundamental computational, experimental and theoretical research, the workshop will emphasize geophysical applications to such phenomena as
