Launching the CCI mission

The 2000-2002 Strategic Plan was formulated with certain notions in mind. Specifically, it addresses the following questions:

• What is the place of northern studies and research at the UA, nationally, and internationally?
• What should CCI's contribution be to research excellence and innovation?
• Should CCI seek new resources in order to enhance its ability to contribute to community needs and knowledge transfer?
• How can CCI improve its effectiveness in promoting the UA's role to the public?

The Five-Year Strategic Plan is posted at the Circumpolar Café, where it is available to be viewed online or downloaded.

Challenge of Change

The immediate challenge facing CCI is to ensure that the UA maintains its preeminent role in northern research, and to ensure the relevance of CCI and its programs within the regional, national, and international contexts and in the public as well as the academic sectors.
