Faculty Position in Pharmaceutical Sciences

We are expanding our pharmaceutical sciences program and invite applications for a full time probationary tenure track position in Pharmacokinetics-Biopharmaceutics at the assistant professor level. A PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field is required.  A pharmacy degree and relevant teaching and post-doctoral research experience are desirable. The position is available August 1, 2005.

The College of Pharmacy offers a fully accredited, problem‑based learning (PBL) curriculum. The successful applicant will provide lectures, serve as a discipline expert and assist in the development of cases that integrate basic and pharmaceutical sciences with clinical practice and pharmaceutical care. Development of an extramurally funded independent research program is expected. Excellent opportunities exist to participate/collaborate in interdisciplinary research. Other responsibilities include participation in scholarly and service activities.

Position Description:

Reporting to the Director of Target Discovery and Validation, the Leader of Pharmacology will lead a small team in the development of in vivo models for testing compound efficacy and toxicity in support of drug discovery and development. The Leader of Pharmacology will be expected to foster a strong collaboration with the Biomarker Development team and the Assay Screening team. Important early activities will be establishment of new in vivo models including validation and quality control. This is a new position within Inimex and will prove to be both exciting and challenging for the successful candidate. This Scientific Management position involves the supervision of Scientists and Research Associates.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in cell biology, immunology or a related field.

  • Minimum five years related industry experience in a leadership role.

  • Previous experience in managing budgets and meeting deadlines.

  • Expert knowledge of in vivo models.
