On its home front, the University of Alberta performed commendably: Emily Cliff & Iain Ireland placed second in the Finals, while Ian Burch & Robert Lees-Miller placed Fourth.

A special thanks to Wei Qiang, Erika Chan & Nathan Pinkoski for running this tournament, to Emma James for tabbing and for the adjudication team, with Sharon Ohayon as Chief Adjudicator and Sheida Kayat & Mary Mcphail as Deputy Chief Adjudicators.

Grant Davy's Tab

Congratulations to Iain Ireland and Sarah-Jane Laxdal, who emerged victors of Grant Davy's 2009.

Kristen Pue & Alan Shapiro, Julia Pon & Andrea Diamond and Ian Burch & Taha Hassan were all finalists.

The tab is attached for all those who wish to consult. Due to a washing machine accident, however, the results from the third round of debate are missing. Remember, children: memory sticks and water do not mix well.

Elections this Week

At our Wednesday meeting we shall be electing two positions to our Executives, the Novice Member-at-Large and Member-at-Large.

These two members (in the words of our Constitution) "shall assist all other members of the Board of Directors with the functioning of the Society and carry out any other duties assigned
by the Society or the Board of Directors."
In practice the NMAL assists the VP Internal, while the MAL assists the VP External.

The NMAL position is reserve for club members who have had no prior experience debating at a University level, while the MAL position can go to a club member with or without prior experience.

A reminder that in order to vote or run in the elections you require a membership, which will be sold at our meeting prior to the election beginning for the price of $20 a year and $15 for a semester.
