Race For Dignity
Event: February 28, 2009
The Annual Race for Dignity took place on Feb 28 2009. For more information check out the Race for Dignitiy page. Start recruiting people to ride on your team for the race next year! We successfully raised more than $6500 dollars in one day!
Executive Recruitment
Due: November 10, 2008
We want to get things rolling with our major events for the year (the Race for Dignity, Sexual Health Fair and AIDS Awareness Week) as soon as possible, so we are recruiting new Exec members! The application can be downloaded from HERE, complete with instructions. The applications are due to dignitas@ualberta.ca by Midnight on Nov. 10th (that's Monday!). Don't worry, they're nice and short. So take a few minutes, write your answers and send them back to us. We will have chosen the new 2008-09 Exec by the end of next week, and then we're off on another exciting year of Dignitas activities!
If you do not want to apply for an Exec position this year, we still have lots for general members to do. The soonest thing we will need is people to help organize and run activities for AIDS Awareness week at the end of November. Then we will also be needing a lot of help for the Race for Dignity and Sexual Health Fair later in the year. So please stay tuned for general member meetings and volunteer opportunities, and email us with any questions!

On Pause...
After the busy month of November (2007) with the Sexual Health Fair culminating with the Race for Dignity on World Aids Day, Dec 1. We're putting things on hold for a few weeks. We're getting some sleep, doing the studying that has been put off for far too long and spending some time out in the snow. Things will get going again in Jan, sit tight until then.
Race For Dignity:

Dignitas Youth at the University of Alberta held a stationary bike race as a fundraiser for Dignitas International. Check out the Event Page for details. We raised over $11 000 in one day! Congratulations to all the fundraisers and a big thanks to all who donated.
General Members Meeting:

We talked about what we've been up to, what we're planning on doing, and what the opportunities are to get involved. There was an opportunity to sign up for volunteering and participating in events.
Sexual Health Fair:

Dignitas Youth at the University of Alberta is bringing Community Based Health Care to the University. Check out the Event. We tested 66 people for STIs! What a success!
Dignitas Information Meeting:
September 10, 2007 4:00pm in 2-27 MSB
An introduction to Dignitas and the philosophy behind community based care was presented by Anne Aspler. The video "The Bicycle" was screened to give insight into how our humanitrian work plays out in real life in Malawi. A brief discussion took place regarding the plans for the group for the 2007-2008 school year and an invitation was made for individuals to apply for volunteer positions on the executive of the group.
