The world has achieved brilliance without wisdom;
without conscience. Ours is a world of nuclear giants
& ethical infants. We know more about war than we know
about peace; more about killing than we know about living.
With the monstrous weapons man already has, humanity
is in danger of being trapped in this world by its moral
adolescence. Our Knowledge of science has clearly
outstripped our capacity to control it. We have too many
men of science; too few men of God. We have grasped the
mystery of the atom and rejected the Sermon on the Mount.
Man is stumbling blinder through a spiritual darkness
while toying with the precarious seeds of life and death.
It is an odd thing, Mr. Ireton, that every
wages war believes God is on his side. I'll warrant
God must often wonder who is on His.
All that is necessary for the forces of evil
the world is for enough good men to do nothing.
If there is light in the soul,
There will be beauty in the person.
If there is beauty in the person,
There will be harmony in the house.
If there is harmony in the house,
There will be order in the nation.
If there is order in the nation,
There will be peace in the world.
