Sunrise at Fort MacMurray 8 June 2004

The first burst of sunlight. Note the ground fog around the sun.

The sun slightly higher. Again the ground fog is visible.

The sun is still close to the horizon and is distorted into an oblate shape. Venus in the 4:00 oclock position is also distorted.

Venus is approaching the edge of the solar disk. From Fort MacMurray approximately the last forty minutes of the transit was visible.

Venus touches the edge of the solar disk.

Venus appears as a tiny nick in the edge of the sun before finally disappearing.

Me and my equipment. I can't remember who took this photo but obviously I didn't.
