Welcome to the Community League for Windsor Park. The league promotes friendship, fellowship and sports among neighbors and serves as a common meeting place.   Windsor Park is a member of the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues.

News notes from the president

The community league’s views on the rezoning of the Windsor Park Mall site can be found here.  This position paper was developed by the land use committee and is authorized by the executive.  It is not only a response to VOCO Developments’ proposal for a 4 story, 37 unit development but also the beginning of a formal statement of the community’s views on development.  Obviously this is not going to be a totally unanimous view.  The place to present informed dissent is at the meetings of the executive; the next one will be in September.

VOCO’s response to community concerns can be found by clicking here. Windsor Parkers can comment directly to City of Edmonton’s planning department.  This opportunity is important and for maximum impact, such comments should be delivered to the city planner before the end of May.

The city planner who will write a report on the project for City Council is David Schoor.  David can be reached by e-mail, telephone at 496 6134, fax at 401 7060, or by snail mail to 10250 101 St., 5th Floor, Edmonton T5J 3P4.

Voco’s consultants have concluded that CNC is not viable on the Windsor Park Mall site because the University Community, and particularly the Lister Hall residence, is adequately served by facilities within the university.  This seems to imply that the commercial activity carried out free of City of Edmonton constraints, on campus, are such as to make additional commercial activity near the campus not viable.  In VOCO’s view, Windsor Park is also adequately served by the commercial space on  112th, 109th, and 82nd.  In short, they maintain the proposition that CNC development of the Windsor Park Mall is not a viable economic proposition.

John Wilson has taken on the work of maintaining a website that covers information on the proposals to redevelop the Windsor Park Mall.  I thank him for that.

If anyone is seriously disturbed by noise from the Heritage Amphitheatre this summer, they should call Tim Resaul at 496 5835 or 920 1013.

Information on, a form for registration for, and the fee schedule for the Windsor Park Nursery School are available.

The University of Alberta’s Nano Technology Institute (NINT) on the site of the temporary labs just east of the Windsor Car Park, and Natural Resources Engineering Facility NREF) just south of ECERF are well advanced.  This is the summary of construction schedules
