WordPress.com e-Portfolios
There are some initial steps that need to be taken to prepare your Wordpress.com blog to be used as an e-portfolio. These steps will give you a "shell" or template for your e-portfolio. Once you have compteted these steps you must then edit and add content, adjust the appearance of your e-portfolio and add other features as you desire. General tutorial steps for these actions can be found in the PDF Tutorial
Initial steps to take to prepare your Wordpress.com blog to be used as an e-portfolio:
- Go to wordpress.com and sign-up for an account
- Download and open / print the PDF tutorial (which is a manual for the basic functions you'll use in creating the e-portfolio)
- Download this file and save it to your computer: wordpress-shell-APT-Wi10.xml (to save this file you must RIGHT-CLICK on it and select "Save Target As... or "Save Link As...)
- Read page 1 of the PDF manual for an understanding of dashboard view vs. site view
- Within the dashboard view of your blog click on the "Tools" menu (it is listed in the left-hand list of menus)
- Then under "Tools" click on import, then click on "WordPress" in the main screen area
- Choose the wordpress-shell-APT-Wi10.xml file that you previously saved on your computer and click "upload file and import"
- You will be asked to associate authors, just click Submit
- it will now display a "Processing" message, but after 5 minutes you can click on the "view site" button (again see PDF manual if you can't find this button) and all the contents of the shell
- Now follow the rest of the steps in the manual to complete your e-portfolio
