My research background is in neuropsychology of emotion-cognition interactions in patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders. I received my PhD in Psychology at the University of Bielefeld in Germany with Hans Markowitsch. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the Rotman Research Institute in Toronto (ON) with Brian Levine, I started my faculty position at the Department of Psychiatry in summer 2007. Current studies in my lab investigate cognitive impairment in patients as well as personality influences on emotion, memory and cognition. My hobbies these days are mainly my two kids, June and Joel.

My research interests strongly revolve around the study of cognitive impairments in clinical populations. I received my B.A. co-op degree in psychology in 2009 after completing a 12-month internship in an interdisciplinary rehabilitation setting. As a result, I have become very interested in the executive functions and mood disorders seen in traumatic brain injury and psychiatric populations. I commenced my M.Sc. in Psychiatry in 2010, and through neuropsychological tools, I am presently studying decision-making abilities in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. Future research questions include looking at the relationship between fatigue, depression, alexithymia (a state/trait deficiency in understanding, processing, and describing emotions) and their neurological and functional correlates. Personal interests include swimming, yoga, snowboarding and anything to do with the outdoors.
