Beyond These Four Walls: The Library Has Left the Building

Each year, the graduate students of the University of Alberta's School of Library and Information Studies host a Professional Development Day for the benefit of library students and faculty, as well as the professional community. As an annual event, Professional Development Day provides a forum for the sharing of issues and research in librarianship, as well as an opportunity for socializing and networking with others in their field.

The aim of this year's PD Day is to illustrate how the work of the library and information professional is not limited to the realm of the physical library. We wish to emphasize how library and information professionals deal with issues that are relevant to individuals outside and beyond the library and information profession itself.
