Rear Windows
                                                Rear Windows (11mb .wmv)

We finally got the new rear windows in.  Last season, we bought plexiglass from the local home store and tinted it with window film.  This time we got some tinted plexiglass and put it in the right way.

Once we got the technique down, this was pretty easy.  We were able to do all three back windows with one piece of 2' x 4' plexiglass that cost us $35.

Here is the step by step, 2 people are needed, but more can help:

1) Cut plexiglass about 1-2mm larger than the inside opening of the window frame  (we made cardboard templates of the opening then cut the plexiglass slightly larger using a jigsaw and then sanded the sharp edges off and quickly flamed the edge with a torch).
2) Cut window rubber to the size of the opening (we found if the rubber was on the large side it was able to keep the gap tight, if the rubber was to small a gap would develop, we also couldn't find anything to glue the ends together, but I think that would be good).
3) Put the window rubber on the window, silicone helps.
4) Insert a rope into the groove on the window rubber that goes over the frame of the car, silicone helps, this will hold the window rubber on the window as well.
5) Place window in the opening from the outside of the car.
6) Pull the rope from the inside of the car, pulling the window rubber over the frame of the opening, silicone helps. We found it worked well to start in the middle of one side and then do the top and bottom together until you get to the other side, silicone helps.

Good luck,
The roofchop crew.
