The Research Team
Mark Boyce (right) is a professor of biology at the University of Alberta where he holds the Alberta Conservation Association Chair in Fisheries and Wildlife. Dr. Boyce specializes in building quantitative models to improve wildlife management and conservation. He is a distinguished researcher in his field, and his publications have been cited over 2,100 times. He was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Wildlife Management from 1995-1997 and is currently an editor for the prominent journal Ecology. Dr. Boyce has worked on a number of wildlife species including grizzly bears, elk, coyotes, wolves, and cougars. In his current role as Alberta Conservation Association Chair in Fisheries and Wildlife, Dr. Boyce is responsible for identifying research needs and providing science based information that will aid in conserving and improving Alberta’s fish and wildlife populations. His current research focuses primarily on modelling predator-prey interactions and using resource selection functions (RSF) to model relationships between animals and landscapes.
