It is a term that refers collectively to the artistic movements of the <A href="http://www.barnsdle.demon.co.uk/russ/rusrev.html">tumultuous years</A> of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in Russia. Three of these movements that encompassed poetry were <A href="file:///H:/Data/Silver%20Age/symbolists.html">Symbolism</A>, <A href="file:///H:/Data/Silver%20Age/acmeists.html">Acmeism</A> and <A href="file:///H:/Data/Silver%20Age/futurists.html">Futurism</A>. <P> <CENTER><IMG src="grbar.gif" vspace=20> <P> <H1><A name=contents>Contents</A></H1></CENTER><A href="file:///H:/Data/Silver%20Age/intro.html"><IMG alt=bullet hspace=5 src="ball5.gif" align=left vspace=5 border=0></A><A href="intro.html"> <H2>Introduction to Russian on the Web</H2></A> <P><A href="symbolists.html"><IMG alt=bullet hspace=5 src="ball5.gif" align=left vspace=5 border=0></A> <H2><A href="symbolists.html">The Symbolists</H2></A> <BLOCKQUOTE> <UL> <LI><A href="symbolists.html#solovev">Vladimir Solovev</A> <LI><A href="symbolists.html#blok">Aleksandr Blok</A> <LI><A href="symbolists.html#bely">Andrei Belyi</A> </LI></UL></BLOCKQUOTE> <P><A href="acmeists.html"><IMG alt=bullet hspace=5 src="ball5.gif" align=left vspace=5 border=0></A><A href="acmeists.html"> <H2>The Acmeists</H2></A> <BLOCKQUOTE> <UL> <LI><A href="acmeists.html#gumilev">Nikolai Gumilev</A> <LI><A href="acmeists.html#anna">Anna Akhmatova</A> <LI><A href="acmeists.html#osip">Osip Mandel'shtam</A> </LI></UL></BLOCKQUOTE> <P><A href="futurists.html"><IMG alt=bullet hspace=5 src="ball5.gif" align=left vspace=5 border=0></A><A href="futurists.html"> <H2>The Futurists</H2></A> <BLOCKQUOTE> <UL> <LI><A href="futurists.html#vlad">Vladimir Mayakovsky</A> <LI><A href="futurists.html#khleb">Velemir Khlebnikov</A> </LI></UL></BLOCKQUOTE> <CENTER><IMG src="grbar.gif" vspace=20> <P><A href="index.html">Top of this Page</A><A href="index.html"><IMG hspace=10 src="uarrow3.gif" border=0></A> <A href="intro.html">Intro to Russian on the Web</A><A href="intro.html"><IMG hspace=10 src="rarrow3.gif" border=0></A> <P><A href="symbolists.html">To Symbolists</A> / <A href="acmeists.html">To Acmeists</A> / <A href="futurists.html">To Futurists</A></CENTER> <P> <CENTER><IMG src="grbar.gif" vspace=20></CENTER> <ADDRESS> <CENTER> <H4><B><A href="index.html">The Silver Age of Russian Poetry</A><BR>created by <A href="mailto:lmalcolm@ualberta.ca">Lindsay Malcolm</a> <BR></H4><TT>last modified: August 8th, 1999</TT> </ADDRESS><TT>URL: http://www.ualberta.ca/~lmalcolm/poetry/index.html</TT></CENTER></B></BODY></HTML>
