The Madrigal Singers and Mads Alumni will join forces with two other choirs, I Coristi and Oran, together with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, to perform Handel’s Messiah under the direction of William Eddins, music director of the ESO. The concert features an all-Edmonton cast of soloists: Linda Perillo, soprano; Frances Jellard, alto; John Tessier, tenor; and Nathan Berg, bass. Of interest is that Frances Jellard and John Tessier are alumni of the Madrigal Singers!

The Madrigal Singers and Concert Choir, Robert Curtis, conductor, will join the Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Dennis Prime, conductor, to present a concert of music for chorus and band, including Brahms’ Begräbnisgesang, Op. 13, and American composer David Holsinger’s A Song of Moses. Each ensemble will also perform on its own.

The Madrigal Singers will join Edmonton’s professional chamber choir, Pro Coro Canada, in their annual Good Friday concert. The concert will include works by Bruckner, Caldara, Canadian composer Jeff Enns, and Nystedt, and will feature Pro Coro in performances of Domenico Scarlatti’s Stabat Mater, and Latvian composer Eriks Esenvalds’ moving new work, Passion and Resurrection, featuring soprano soloist Jolaine Kerley with string orchestra.
