Music

I play cello, mini-cello (viola) and sing a bit.  Recently, I have been playing with Celtic, 'bluegrass', Quebec, Swedish, and other folk musicians. I sometimes play in a 'band' with a group of other biologists/forest scientists called either the Outliers or the Residuals depending on how we are feeling.

Red Hackle Pipe Band CD (4 tracks). 2010. Scottish Music CD recorded at Sand Castle Recording Studio‎: Fairbanks, AK.
Tanana Mud (2 tracks). 2007. Folk Music CD recorded at Lincoln Creek Studio: Fairbanks, AK.
Anam Cara. 2005. Celtic Music CD recorded at 10th Planet Recording Studio: Fairbanks, AK.

Here's a raw track from a jam session a few years ago: Wind and Rain.

Art

I have dabbled in various forms of visual art and photography. See Thermokarst the Dragon.

Sport

As a field ecologist, I have a fondness for outdoor pursuits including hiking, kayaking, and camping.  I once fenced in the Ontario Varsity Athletics League with our team even winning a bronze metal when others were a no-show due to a snow storm and I am not very talented at but enjoy greatly the game of squash.
