When I was a bachelor student I figured out that I am interested in physiology and during my master course I found the most complicated part of our world is the brain. I was captivated by the neurobiology and psychopharmacology of anxiety and depression disorders, so I carried out three research projects on anxiety. My master thesis was “Nicotine-induced anxiogenic-like behaviours of rats in the elevated plus-maze: possible role of NMDA receptors of the central amygdala.” Also, I carried out two more research projects entitled “Involvement of rat dopaminergic system of nucleus accumbens in nicotine-induced anxiogenic-like behaviors,” and “The anxiety-like behavior of Nicotine in Amygdala, ventral hippocampus and VTA in rats in the elevated plus-maze.” After graduating I decided to pursue my education in Neuroscience at the University of Alberta under the supervision of Dr. Nikolai Malykhin. One of the reasons that motivated me to do research in Nikolai’s lab was I liked to do research on human brain after working 3 years on rats. In the future I like to work with neuroimaging methods in mental disorders or cognitive neuroscience.
