Excavations
of the mastaba fields surrounding the pyramids at Giza (photo
right) were undertaken by George Reisner in the 1930s.
This
project seeks to analyse the skeletal remains from Reisner's
excavations that are currently housed at the Peabody Museum
at Harvard University and the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum at
the University of California, Berkeley.
Skeletal
remains housed in Cairo are being studied by colleague Dr.
Sary el-Din at the National Research Centre.
The
results of the analyses will appear in a monograph on the
Mastabas of the G2100 Core Cemetery, edited by Dr. Peter
Der Manuelian of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, to be
published as Volume 8 in the Giza Mastaba series.
