MICROSCOPES AND IMAGE ANALYSIS:
Olympus Microscope System (Model BX40) with Reflected Light Fluorescence Attachment (Model BX-FLA)
Olympus BX40 Microscope attached with BX-FLA reflected light fluorescence vertical illuminator has 4X, 10X, 20X, 40X and 100X Plan Fluorite universal objectives and three modular filter cubes for
a) blue image, UV exciter filter BP 360-370 /bandpass barrier filter BA 420 - 460;
b) green image, blue exciter filter BP 460 - 490 /bandpass barrier filter BA 515 -550; and
c) red image, green exciter filter BP 530 -550 /bandpass barrier filter BA 570 -590.
Leica Inverted Microscope System (Model DM IRB) with Reflected Light Fluorescence Attachment (Model RL)
This DM IRB inverted microscope has objective magnifications from 5x, 10x, 20x and 40x (new). Three fluorescence filter systems for blue, green and red images are accommodated on this microscope (please read BX40 microscope for detail of excitation filters and barrier filters).
Image Analysis System
Image analysis system includes a SPOT2 color digital camera and image analysis software (Image-Pro Plus v4.5). The SPOT CCD chip has a resolution of 1315 x 1033 pixels (total 1,358,395 pixels). This is more than 4 times the resolution of a 3CCD camera with a 640 x 480 frame grabber (307,200 pixels). By exposing the CCD three times (once each for red, green and blue), this camera is able to get true and accurate values for each color on every CCD pixel. Image-Pro Plus allows you to enhance your image quality and to analyze your image in several ways such as intensity analysis, measuring and counting and data exchange.

HISTOLOGY:
Leica Cryostat (Model CM 1900)
The versatile and uncomplicated use of the Leica CM1900 as well as the reliable results obtained make it the instrument of choice in many routine as well as advanced cryostat applications. With the actively cooled quick freeze shelf (-45°C) up to ten specimens can be frozen rapidly inside the cryochamber, the freezing process being further supported by the built-in heat extractor system. The cryostat can be easily disinfected at a temperature of around -20° C.
Leica Vibrating-blade Microtome (Model VT 1000S)
The Leica VT1000 S is a vibrating blade microtome. The instrument has been designed specifically to meet the highly sophisticated sectioning requirements for special applications in the fields of neurophysiology, neuropathology and experimental (brain) research - patch-clamping technique or ratio imaging tests and some applications related to structural analysis of foam and other very soft materials.
Leica Rotary Microtome (Model RM 2135)
Leica RM 2135 Rotary Microtome with section thickness adjustment from 0-60µm. 0-10µm in 1µm steps, 10-20µm in 2µm steps, 20-60µm in 5µm steps. This microtome is a universal instrument for a variety of applications in laboratories where large specimens embedded in paraffin or hard materials, like methacrylate embedded samples need to be sectioned.

MOLECULAR ANALYSIS SYSTEMS:
Bio-Rad iCycler Real-Time PCR Detection System
Real-time quantitative PCR provides accurate quantitation. The iCycler iQ allows you to monitor the fluorescent signal of up to 4 different fluorophores in real time. These analyses are implemented as the data are gathered, saving time and effort. iCycler software is designed to automate analysis options, including quantitative analysis, melt curve analysis; and allelic discrimination.

Fluor-S MAX MultiImager
The Fluor-S MAX MultiImager is a quantitative imaging system for capturing digital images from single and multi-color florescence, chemiluminescence, chemifluoresence and colorimetric samples. The Fluro-S MAX MultiImager uses advanced super-cooled CCD technology for image capture. Low temperature cooling of the large, back-thinned CCD improves image quality by reducing background noise and enhancing the signal to noise ratio. The Fluor-S-MAX system incorporates a unique scanning and epi-illumination system for both UV and white light excitation. This provides high-sensitivity imaging of a variety of fluorescent, chemiluminescent and colorimetric samples. The scanning design also provides more uniform illumination than fixed transillumination bulbs whilst still permitting fast image acquisition. The epi- Quantity Oneâ software allows substantial flexibility in the presentation of captured images and provides many tools for data analysis. These include: molecular weight determination, automated lane and band finding, and accurate concentration analysis.
