Things to see and do!

Last updated 08/30/02

Wondering what there is to see and do in Edmonton? Here are some ideas. Still under construction!

You can start by visiting Tourism Edmonton

Historical

Fort Edmonton
Nestled in the river valley, it's a great escape from the real world! Easy to get to, you just take the 4 or 106 for West Ed mall and get off just after the place for horse back riding. Ask the driver, they'll tell you where. =) Here you can visit a replica of the old Fort, and examples of shops and homes from 1885, 1905 and 1920. Take a ride on a train, a trolley car, in a wagon or in a carriage! There's also a trading post, bakery, confectionary stores, restaurants, ice cream shop, the Ukranian bookstore and much, much more. You can easily spend a day there! $8 admission for adults, $19.50 for an annual pass.
Located at: Fox Drive & Whitemud Drive
Call 496-8787 for more details!

John Janzen Nature Centre
Not historical, but natural. JJN is located next to Fort Edmonton. Admission is only $1.25 for adults, less for children.

McKay Avenue School
Now a museum, this is the location of the first school in Edmonton, and on the top floor is also the location (and a replica) of the first Alberta Parliament. You can make your visit here long or short, depending on how much reading you want to do!

A beautiful structure overlooking the rivervalley, this is where the Alberta Provincial Government does its thing. Tours are available, and there are some strange and wonderful things in this great old building! Tours on the hour from 9 am to noon and every half hour from 12:30 am to 4 pm.
