Netiquette for CLSEDUC

Last updated:  3 Apr. 2020
Please take the time to read 3 key guidelines that help the list run smoothly. They reflect best practices that contribute to an effective, efficient list and show respect for colleagues by valuing their time.

1. BREVITY. When responding to previous posts, include the name of the earlier sender so that readers are oriented to the issue.  Delete the entire prior post OR quote only those brief portions of the previous message that are necessary to make your point.

Do NOT include extended passages or the entire passage, as this will needlessly clog list archives with repetitions of the same message and make reading digests difficult, if not impossible.

INSTEAD PLEASE RESPOND AS FOLLOWS:

2. REPLY. Send all substantive responses to the entire group so that everyone can benefit. If your response will interest only one person, e.g., "I want a copy too" or "I agree" or "Thank you", send private e-mail to that person.

3. SUBJECT LINES. Please ensure that the Subject line clearly describes the content of your message. Do not leave the Subject line blank or use a non-descriptive one such as "Question." Subscribers may use subject lines to decide whether or not to read a message. Descriptive subject lines make reviewing list archives more productive and efficient.
