• Buying Comfort, all about my better half's latest excursion into the realm of shopping.

• Study guides and strategies from the University of St. Thomas. Students--this is a terrifc site. It's accessible in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Russian.

• BC-PBCO, the Provincial Blood Coordinating Office in British Columbia, Canada. The PBCO is working on some innovative projects including informed consent, blood utilization, a central transfusion registry, and more.

• Focus on the best Web links is worth a look.

• International Association of Medical Laboratory Technologists. Check out the newly revised IAMLT Web site. Ryo Takahashi and I are the volunteer Web masters. We're just getting started and welcome your feedback.

  • I greatly admire "Amazing Grace", Rear Admiral Grace Hopper (1906-1992), mathematician, computer pioneer, teacher. Read more about her life in this tribute.

  • Search the USENET newsgroups using Deja news. Scroll to "author" and type in a person's e-mail address; then scroll up and hit the FIND button (beside KEYWORD SEARCH).

  • Check out ideas for National Medical Laboratory week. Hit the small white buttons to the left of each day to access the resources.

  • Inflation $ calculator lets you calculate what a dollar is worth for years between 1913 and 1998. Interesting way to start the penultimate year of the first millenium, no? <;-)

  • Reverse lookup-USA from Infospace allows you to find a name and address if you know is a phone number or to find a name and phone number from a street address. You can even discover names of everyone on a street by omitting the street number on the reverse address screen. There is also a Reverse lookup-Canada.

    To remove your listing, once you have found it, click the tiny 'update/remove' link just above the listing.

  • 24th World Congress of Medical Technology in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, June 18 - 23rd, 2000. Hey--it's time to think 2000 in Vancouver! • Really good news: the Krever Report is online. It's in PDF format, so you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. Volume 3 of the Report reviews international responses to the risk of HIV in Canada, the USA, Australia, France, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. It's fascinating reading and perhaps one of the few well referenced sources of information on international blood systems.

• Language translator from AltaVista can translate text from English to French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portugese and vice versa. Fairly rigid translation but a fun way to send messages to friends overseas or to translate foreign-language Web sites.
