Project Overview
This project involved the collection of baseline and post-intervention data (height, weight, 24 hour food recall, and 7 day physical activity questionnaire) of elementary school students. The students (and faculty and staff) received pedometers; and nutrition and physical activity sessions were held at the schools three times per week for 12 weeks. Students tracked their daily fruit and vegetable intake and daily pedometer steps in a personal diary. Information and project updates were included in newsletters sent home to families. University of Alberta undergraduate and graduate students were facilitators and mentors for this project.
