A new master's degree program in Instructional Technology is being offered [fall of 1996] in the School of Education through a cooperative agreement with the Los Angeles County Office of Education - the Institute for Technology and Learning (ITL). There is an entering competency requirement: Technology Tools. Prospective students go through a preliminary asessment process and those lacking the necessary competency in technology tools take Use of Instructional Technology in the Curriculum . Required program competencies include:

The Pennsylvania Department of Education requires three years of successful classroom teaching experience on an educational Specialist I certificate before level II certificate, such as Instructional Technology Specialist, can be issued.
