Parrots are no birdbrains, says a University of Alberta researcher. Andrew
Iwaniuk is a post-doctoral student who has compared the brain size and
structure of 1,400 bird species. Iwaniuk is quoted.

industry that threatens the academic integrity of post-secondary education,
a session on ethics at the U of A was told Wednesday. Maureen Engel,

6. FIRST REGISTERED PHYSICIAN COLLECTED ARTIFACTS
Dr. George Verey was the first resident doctor in Edmonton, but the first
doctor registered to practise in the new province of Alberta was another
medical pioneer, Dr. Oliver Cromwell Edwards. Edwards amassed a significant
artifact collection, which was later sold to the University of Alberta in
about 1923 for $5,000.

9. TENACIOUS THOMSON HAS IMMEDIATE IMPACT
Profile piece on Ben Thomson, a 21-year-old physical education and
recreation student at the U of A who plays for the Golden Bears hockey
team. Thomson is described as a good bet to win the CIS rooke if the year
award. Coach Rob Daum is quoted, and also mentioned are players Ryan Wade,
